Hannah Making Scones

My daughters are the best bakers. We are in the midst of the typhoon so she decided to make some scones for her dear old dad (with a little coaxing). Thanks Hannah for the typhoon scones.

Officially a Typhoon

wp201008This will be our first “real typhoon” of the year. It should pass right over us about 8pm tonight. The winds are registered to be between 110 to 130mph. We should get a lot of wind and rain. Please keep us in prayer, everything should be ok, our houses are built to withstand this type of weather. We are located on higher ground in Ginowan City so we do not have to worry about flooding. But we do not want to take anything for granted. There are actually three storms out there, but two of them are just tropical storms but the one heading right for us is a typhoon.

Good Students

They are off to a good start. The first day has begun and it is study time. Hey, where is Brevik?

Orientation Begins

Exciting times; the students are here and ready to go. Most of the interns are in charge of running the show tonight. This is definitely the largest group that we have ever had. We have an international crowd; Koreans, Japanese, Americans and one German (Praise God for Anna).

Three Van Fulls

Three full vans, it is fun caravanning for a fun filled adventure. Our final destination; Ikei Island. The weather is good, a perfect time to travel.

Katsuren Castle Ruins

This is our first outing for the semester. We are visiting one of the castle ruins in Okinawa. This is a good group of students this semester, we are going to have a lot of fun.

Breakfast of Champions

Miso soup and rice. Absolutely delicious! Our first breakfast together, but we are waiting for Emi and Brandy to arrive. They will come in tonight.

Rika is Here!

Great to have Rika back with us. We are so blessed that God brought her back. She has a great Pastor who is so supportive in her being here. Thank you Pastor Santo.

First Typhoon of the Semester

1007-00 201008292300-00Typhoon Kompasu is on its way. It does not look like a big one, but these can gain strength quickly. So the students might get to see some wind and rain soon. Please pray for us (everything will be ok) but we just don’t want to take these things for granted. We will keep you updated.

Costco: We want one in Okinawa

After the woman's conference in West Tokyo, the gals headed out to Costco. You gotta love it! Just look at Hannah holding on to that "churro". That is the Mexican in her.

Pastor Tim at Ippeki Lake

IMG_7407Welcome to Ippeki Lake. This was the center of a volcano and as you can see is now a beautiful lake. It is also called "the eye of Izu". Izu is the peninsula where I have been staying these past few wonderful days. There are so many friendly people here, it's much like Okinawa. It has opened my eyes to see that there are many more places with many more people that need to hear the truth of the Gospel. I believe the Lord has used me as a testimony of Himself here.

I have finished my english classes and I'm now on my way into Tokyo where I will be teaching at Calvary Chapel Nishi Tokyo tomorrow morning.

It is Completed!

Today Amanda finished the Sakura tree painting. We so appreciate all of her hard work! God bless you Amanda, and thank you so much!

The Crew at Tropical Beach

Zach took the new students out for a little sight seeing. They went to the beach and also the arcade as well as the 100 yen shop. A good afternoon.

Aya is now Here!

She arrived last night as Naoko picked her up from the airport. Aya is from Nagano in Mainland Japan. This will be her first semester so please keep her in your prayers.

Pastor Tim in Shimoda

IMG_7387IMG_9936From the words of Pastor Tim:

I visited a town called Shimoda today. Historical and a resort area full of surf spots. Too bad it was flat today.

A carronade from 1829. As you can see they've improved over TIMe.
I was walking down this very old beautiful street in and found out that Perry came into this port. The street is called "perry road." I was walk a historical road without knowing how historical it was!!! I've studied this stuff but never walked through it.

Tomorrow we have our last active English kids class, then I head to the big city, Tokyo

Matthew and Logan Arrived

The first of the students arrived today and it is blessing to see them. God has great things in store for these brothers, please keep them in your prayers.

Another Storm is a Brewing

a-00201008270100-00It is such in the early stages that they have not even gave this tropical storm a name. But it is churning out there, and we will see what becomes of it. We have received a lot of rain as of last night and today. It seems like it has rained every day this month.

Lea and Joanna heading to Tokyo

Some of the girls are already there. Yumi will arrive tomorrow night while Kayo and Natsuki arrived this morning. Please pray for them as they will be busy at the Woman's conference. Be blessed girls and go forward for Jesus.

Pastor Tim on the Mainland

IMG_7908Tim is now in Shizuoka. This picture is taken of him on the top of a volcano. I don’t know what he is doing up there but it looks like he is having some fun. Actually he is sightseeing with some of the extra time that he has when he is not teaching his classes. Pastor Tim will be in Mainland Japan for about two weeks. We will follow his adventures through the web.

I could not believe how clear and beautiful the water was. I have seen some clear water, but never as clear as here. There was a small group who went before the new Bible College Semester begins, we had a blessed time.

The Birthday Girl’s

Monday was Natsuki and Yumi’s Birthday. We did a little celebration on Sunday after Church. It was a blessing to hang out with the Birthday girls. Please leave a birthday greeting below.

Tropical Storm Mindulle

all-00201008230900-00Well, there is a little storm a brewin right off the coast of China. It is just forming right now, hopefully it will blow inland and it will die down. We had some really good weather today, let’s pray it continues on. We don’t want to take any of these storms for granted. Check it out, it looks like something is also brewin just below Australia.

A Blessed Night!

At w2 we celebrated Jesus at the Obon holiday. We spent the night in prayer, worship, and fellowship. Different Guys and Gals led worship during the night, a great time with Jesus!

Okinawa Baseball No.1

For the first time ever Okinawa has won the High School Baseball Summer tournament. They have won the tournament in the winter, but never in the summer. Okinawa is making its mark as the premier Baseball team in all of Japan. As you can see in the video, the guys went to San A Department store (big store in the mall) and everyone was glued to the TV. When they won the game, everyone went crazy. Check out the video, just click on it above.
