Friday, Satsukosan came over to the Bible College and taught the students how to make Okinawan Mochi. It is called "Muuchi". What is Mochi? Mochi is a certain kind of dessert made from Rice, and usually it is sweet, and has Japanese beans inside of the rice. The Okinawan version is simular, but it is steamed in a certain leave that grows here in Okinawa. After you steam the rice substance, you are able to eat it. (I hope that this is making sense). Well, pictures are worth a thousand words. In the center picture is Djuji, and she is forming the Muuchi in the leaves. The top left picture is Kayo translating for Satsukosan. The upper right picture is the pot and burner that you steam the muuchi in. The bottom pictures are the students making muuchi and there is Natsuki tasting the product. We had a great time, and we are so thankful and blessed that Satsuko came over and blessed us.
