Pineapple Planting Time!

We decided to plant some pineapple in our little garden that we have at our house. Let me give you some pineapple history. Pineapple's were the fruit of the Kings, and Mr. Dole set out to put a pineapple on every table in America, and he did! Everyone has a can of pineapple in their cupboards. Also, Okinawa used to be the pineapple capital here in Asia before Hawaii took over as the number one producer and literally ran Okinawa out of the market. Okinawa is still known for their pineapples but you can really only see them at the Pineapple Park in Nago city. Oh, one other important fact. It takes about 2 years to produce the first pineapple. In the upper right picture, you can see the stem of the pineapple. It is in these little seed roots that the plant will begin to take to the soil. So we planted these stems and we will watch them grow. A pineapple will grow from the top of the plant. Please double click on the photos and get a closer look.
