Interesting and an eye opener

I was sent this email and maybe some of you have seen it before. It is an eye opener on how we are so blessed living in a first world country. Here are the statistics below.

Germany: The Melander family of Bargteheide
Food expenditure for one week: 375.39 Euros or $500.07

United States: North Carolina (Not much fruits or vegtables.)
Food expenditure for one week $341.98

Italy : The Manzo family of Sicily Food expenditure for one week: 214.36 Euros or $260.11

Mexico: The Casales family of CuernavacaFood expenditure for one week: 1,862.78 Mexican Pesos or $189.09

Poland: The Sobczynscy family of Konstancin-Jeziorna Food expenditure for one week: 582.48 Zlotys or $151.27

Egypt: The Ahmed family of Cairo Food expenditure for one week: 387.85 Egyptian Pounds or $68.53

Ecuador : The Ayme family of Tingo Food expenditure for one week: $31.55

Bhutan: The Namgay family of Shingkhey Village Food expenditure for one week: 224.93 ngultrum or $5.03

Chad: The Aboubakar family of Breidjing Camp Food expenditure for one week: 685 CFA Francs or $1.23

There were a lot of things that stuck out in my mind, but one of them for sure is that you can notice that as the quantity of food gets smaller for the people, the number in the houses get larger. So, if for example, the people who live in Germany or the USA were the number of the people in Bhutan (Asia), the quantity would be triple in the house. Also, as you notice, you see the large quantities of food for the people in the 1st world countries, verses the smaller for those who live in a third world countries. Another thing; do you notice all of the extras and the unnecessary items of the first world countries verses the necessities of the 3rd world countries (Rice, grains, some vegtables). Statistics tell us that 3/4's of the world goes to bed hungry at night. Wow! Now I do not want to offend anyone or make them feel guilty, but as a way of reminder (as it did for me) to be appreciative for how we are so blessed, and also to remember our brothers and sisters around the world. It is always a blessing to cut back a little bit and help support those missionaries who are around the world ministering to the people in these countries. The poor and needy are always on the heart of the Lord.(Lk.4:18-19)
