Obon Festival in Okinawa

Today, August 13th begins Obon. This Festival will be for three days (August 13th - 15th). You might be wondering "what is Obon"? This is a festival where many Okinawan's believe that the spirits of their dead ancestors come back to visit them. The first day the families get together to welcome the spirits back into their homes. On the final day they send them back into the spirit world. This festival is filled with eating and many traditions. The dancers above travel through the streets welcoming the spirits back from the Netherworld. Much of what the Okinawan's do during this month is tradition. As a Christian we believe that when a believer dies they are immediately in the presence of the Lord. We will no longer come back to the world to visit because we will eternally be with our Father in Heaven. Please pray for us during this festival, we want to share the Love of Jesus Christ with the Okinawan people.

Hey, Tom
Gen visit this blog coincidently.
Not only Okinawan's but also We believe that the spirits of our Grand mother come back to visit us. When you will visit Tokyo next time, you can ask Ayuko where our Grand mother's Grave is. The Grave is buddhist style, but You can go to our Grand mother's grave to make an offering, and you can pray. Coz our Grand mother was Christian..You know?

And If you want to go our old ancestral grave, I will take you there. It is at Saitama Prif, takes 1.5 hours from Tokyo. The Grave is very very old and worn-out ... haha...coz it was built in1192(816years ago).

Tom, I am so soryy that I forget English...If you don't understand what I said...You can ask me by mobile.

well...c u....
