The Dean's purchased their New/Used car the other day. Such a blessing, Praise the Lord! It took them a few days to actually receive it because the dealership that they bought it from needed time to put a new CD player in it and to finish the paperwork. They also waxed it, which Josh was really surprised. That is the way they do a lot of things here in Japan, their name is their honor and car dealerships want to keep a good name. The car is a "yellow plate", which means their license plate is not white but yellow. A yellow plate car pays lower road tax, insurance, and "shaken" (every two years cars in Okinawa need to go through a safety check, for a white plate car it costs about $1,000.00 dollars, for a yellow plate it cost about $400.00 dollars) Also, white plate cars have to prove they have a parking space before you can get it registered. That means you have to go to the police station and prove to them you are not going to park it on the side of the street and such. Yellow plates do not have to do that. So you might be asking "why doesn't everyone drive a yellow plate car? I am glad you ask. Well, everyone should drive a yellow plate car they are so good on gas. But the reason being, they are so small, they do not have a big engine (many of them run on 3 cylinders) so they lack power. And you can only fit a maximum of 4 people (sorry, not 4 American people, but Japanese people). And remember this, we are the home of the Nissan skyliner (that car rocks, for you drifters and race fans). For those of you who can remember, in America we used to have the Suzuki Samurai (I had a total of 4) that is a yellow plate car in Japan. Sorry this is so long, to end this blog Josh and Regina got a killer deal on this car, let's make this fun, please write down in the comment section how much you think this car cost them. If you already know, please don't tell anyone yet.
