The Okinawan Builders started on the project today. They began by framing up the doorway that will support the heavy tile roofing that will be put up above. We specifically asked for Old Okinawan wood to be used. We want to keep that "original look" for the doorway. It is a blessing because they found these old beams for the doorposts. As you look at the footing they also used antique Okinawan Coral Stone for the base. All of the wood that you see has been recycled from other places. Much of the wood used came from the inside of the Sanctuary. (Do you remember the old pictures of all the wood?) Tomorrow we have to wash the tiles and they will begin putting them up and cementing them in. It is looking great!
