It is such a joy to hear from Tamikosan and to see that she is doing so well. We miss her so much here in Okinawa but we are overjoyed that she so blessed in Germany. We love you girl. Literally, the guys were swingin from the trees. They were so happy to just get out looking around town. The weather has been so unusual this year. Who's talkin global warming? It's cold out in the neck of our woods, and it has not stopped raining. Except for today, it was a beautiful day in Okinawa.
The day turned out beautiful. It has been raining for the last two weeks, so we ventured down south to the Peace Park. This area is dedicated to remembering the Battle of Okinawa. We took some pictures, learned more about Okinawan history and visited the Memorial museum. We were blessed with our day out in town.
This Sunday Kayo Yamauchi led worship at CCGinowan's morning service. It was a blessing as Naokosan and her stepped out in faith. It was a beautiful set. You did a great job Kayo, keep up the good work for the Lord. Your steps of faith are pleasing to the Lord.
Many of you know Dave Kraak. He used to attend CCLivingwater but he now lives in Cordalain Idaho. You also know his wife Tammi. A few days ago he was driving at work and he suffered a massive heart attack. By the grace of God he made it through, but is on medication. The doctors say that his heart suffered greatly. We are asking you to pray to our Heavely Father for a quick and complete recovery. God is so good! He still does miracles today. We love you Dave and Tammi, God is with you both and all the family.
Today we celebrated Neely's big day. Hannah and Christina baked an oreo cake for him. Everyone knows that Andrew loves his sweets. This cake looks pretty good. When you get a chance, please leave him a birthday greeting below. Happy Birthday Andrew!
Chaplain Dennis was the first Chaplain that I met when we first moved to Okinawa. Back then, he was stationed at Camp Futenma in Ginowan City. Well after his first deployment here, he was sent back to San Diego California where he served on a ship for two years. Well, he is back! Back on Okinawa, and we are blessed! The students were given a tour of the chapel and were taught the blessing and difficulties of being a Navy Chaplain serving in the Marine Corps. Dennis is a great brother, we are blessed to be a part of serving in his chapel.
Jason has been on Okinawa for some time now. He serves as a Marine on Camp Foster. He has been a blessing to many of us, and it is sad to see him go. He will be heading back to the States and then after that, only God knows. Keep putting Jesus first Jason, God has good things in store for your life.
It was such a blessing to have Hallelujah back from Mainland Japan. For those of you who know him, he has been up at the mainland recieving treatment for a throat ailment. It was such a blessing and a surprise to see him at the Koinonia Cafe Wednesday night. We love you bro, may the Lord continue to do a great work in your life.
We can hardly believe it too. Pastor Tom is starting to learn Japanese. But really, finally. He has been here for some time now and it is about time that the Japanese language starts to become his language. Please continue to pray that that Lord blesses him with the ability to learn Japanese.
This is our good buddy Chris. He is originally from NorCal (Northern California). He gave his testamony this week at Bible College devotions. We were blessed with his testamony, especially the fact that we know that the Lord has great things in store for this guy.
This is the most people that we have ever had in the brown party van, 12 people. Even though we have carried that many people many times to the cafe. We have never rode with more than this, it would not be safe. Three are not in the picture. Life is an adventure, be blessed.
Here in Okinawa we do not celebrate Superbowl Sunday but because we are 17 hours ahead of California, Superbowl is on a Monday. All the Bible College students were invited to David and Liz's house for breakfast and the game. Well, Nate also baked some good pizza too. We had a wonderful time, and wasn't that game awesome!
We came out of church on Sunday and this pig was coming up the road. It had been raining for at least a week, I think that it just could not stand being cooped up all the time. This is the first time we have ever seen anything like this before. Down the street there is a pig farm, but they are large and white. This one must have been from a private owner. An incredible site.
Today Evan gave the devotional for the Bible College this morning. His testamony was a blessing. Evan grew up in Mexico as a missionary his whole life. His father and mother still minister in the country. His dad is a doctor living in one of the remote cities in the mountains ministering to the Mexican people. Evan does not know what the Lord has in store for him in the future, but whatever it is, he wants to dedicate all to the Lord Jesus Christ. Please continue to pray for all of the students who are attending this year at CCBC Okinawa.
February begins the month when the Sugarcane is chopped down and sold on the market. Okinawa's two main produce are Sugarcane and Sweetpotato. Most of the work is still done by hand. Usually done by the older folk here on island. The trade is beginning to suffer because the younger generation has lost interest and gone into other kinds of work. It still amazes me to see the hard work that is involved in harvesting this black gold.
Mondays are the days that we spend in adventure on the island. Because we celebrate Superbowl Monday's and not Superbowl Sunday we spent the morning watching the game at David and Liz's house. Afterwards we traveled up to Yomitan village where we visted a famous cave, went to Cape Zampa and also took a trip to Okinawa Christian School (OCSI). It was a fun afternoon with all the Bible College students.
Praise the Lord! Tamakosan came to w2 Sunday night for Bible Study. For those of you who know Tamako, a few months ago she suffered a massive anurism which required major brain surgery. She was not expected to live, but by God's wonderful grace she is doing great and even driving again. We love Tamakosan so much, and are so blessed that she continues to be a big part of our lives here at CCGinwan. Praise be to our most Marvelous Loving God!
The worship team keeps going forward and we are blessed with the addition of Daniel being more permanent at the Chapel. For those of you who do not know, here on Okinawa we are blessed with two Calvary Chapel Chaplains, Chaplain Charlie Owens and Chaplain Dennis Wheeler. At the Bible College we are blessed with the opportunity to be involved with both ministries here on the island.
It was such a blessing this Sunday morning to have Pastor Tim teach in Japanese and Vunder translate the message into english. It is amazing to see so many people stepping out in faith for the Lord. We were especially blessed to see another College gal give her heart to the Lord today. God is doing a wonderful work.
Can you please lift up Sosimo's brother Samuel. He has been dealing with a sickness for some time now. Today he was taken to the hospital because the medication that he is taking has been affecting his hip. Samuel is a wonderful little brother in the Lord. He needs our prayers now and so does the rest of the family. We love you Sosimo, Carolina, Bergy and Louise, especially you too Samuel, get well soon. Love, your extended Christian Family.
This is one of the most beautiful Okinawan homes that I have ever seen. It was amazing! One of the most amazing things about the house was not only the breathtaking view, but the authentic Bansai trees. These trees are over 100 years old! They are taken care of by a professional bansai expert. We had a great time touring the property.
The guys had the opportunity to lead worship at CCOkinawa's men's video conference. We watched the DVD's that were taped in Anaheim California where many of the Calvary Pastor's taught that afternoon. Yes, in the upper right hand picture that is Glenn Phipps leading in worship. He did a great job, Gambate Glen! It was a great morning and afternoon.
